Musashino University (Nishitokyo, Tokyo; President: Seiko Konishi) will hold an online postgraduate pharmacy education program titled "The Present and Future of Medication Review: Based on the 2026 Revisions" on Thursday, June 25. With medication review* becoming a reimbursable service under the 2026 revisions, its significance and implementation are being re-evaluated. In this lecture, we invite Mr. Yuya Iijima, founder of Iijima Pharmacy and executive director of the Ueda Pharmaceutical Association, to demonstrate the thought process from problem identification to intervention using cases of polypharmacy in the elderly. He will also examine the necessity of this practice within Japan's healthcare system from an international perspective. Furthermore, he will address challenges in sharing patient information, the redesign of pharmacy operations, and issues regarding quality assurance and education, while presenting future prospects. *A professional service where pharmacists comprehensively evaluate and optimize all medications taken by a patient (prescription drugs, OTC drugs, and supplements).
