JCB Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chairman and President: Takayoshi Futatsugi, hereinafter: JCB) has begun selling "Oshikatsu Cancellation Insurance," planned and developed by Mysurance Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroomi Shimizu, hereinafter: Mysurance), a small and medium-sized short-term insurance company and subsidiary of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc.

Background of the Initiative

JCB launched "JCB no Hoken" (JCB's Insurance) in July 2025, a service that allows for easy insurance management and application through the web service "MyJCB" exclusively for JCB card members. Since then, JCB has been working to create synergy through the provision of new value to customers with partner companies and has been considering the development of new services in response to the growing demand for "oshikatsu" (fan activities) in recent years.

Mysurance, while recognizing the increasing awareness of "Oshikatsu Cancellation Insurance," faced the challenge of creating touchpoints to provide information to customers at the timing of booking transportation and accommodation for travel after the results of live performances and events are announced.

As the recognition of these challenges and the desired direction aligned between the two companies, this initiative was launched with the aim of realizing a new customer experience that delivers peace of mind at the necessary timing to customers enjoying "oshikatsu" by combining "JCB no Hoken" provided by JCB with Mysurance's insurance products.

About "Oshikatsu Cancellation Insurance"

"Oshikatsu Cancellation Insurance" is an insurance policy that fully compensates for cancellation fees incurred due to sudden performance cancellations or postponements, delays or cancellations of transportation, or sudden hospital visits or admissions, up to the insurance amount, in order to support the "oshikatsu" demographic who want to travel domestically and internationally to meet their "oshi" (favorite performer/character) and want to use their "oshikatsu" funds effectively.

There are two types of products: "Domestic Travel Edition" and "International Travel Edition." For example, with the "Domestic Travel Edition," you can enroll for an insurance premium of 900 yen for travel expenses of 30,000 yen.

This product has received high acclaim as a new insurance product contributing to the development of the "oshikatsu" market, having won the "2025 Good Design Award," the "38th Shogakukan DIME Trend Award 2025, Life Design Division," and the "12th Small and Medium-Sized Short-Term Insurance Award."
