NANKAI NEXT Ventures Co., Ltd. (the corporate venture capital arm of NANKAI Co., Ltd., hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is pleased to announce its investment in Mofuku Rescue Inc. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representatives: Yusuke Goto, Yuma Nagae; hereinafter referred to as "Mofuku Rescue").

The Company will support Mofuku Rescue in its business expansion and further growth, and will continue to actively invest in promising startups challenging the creation of new industries and businesses.

Announcement of New Investment

Mofuku Rescue, with its purpose of "questioning assumptions, re-examining systems, and creating the future normal," operates "Mofuku Rescue," the first unmanned store-based mourning attire rental service in the mourning attire rental industry (according to the company's research). Users can reserve and pay via smartphone and try on or pick up items at stores available 24 hours a day (excluding some stores), providing a service that can quickly respond to sudden demands for mourning attire due to unexpected bereavement notices.

With the advancement of aging populations and the diversification of funeral formats, demand for the service is expanding. The company is expanding its service network as a new social infrastructure to support sudden obsequies, with 22 stores nationwide as of July 2026. Mofuku Rescue will utilize the funds raised in this round to expand to multiple stores in major cities nationwide, improve user experience (UX), and enhance store operations using generative AI, aiming to build a social infrastructure that allows everyone to face farewells with loved ones with peace of mind.
