Thank you for your continued support. We are pleased to announce that the immersive concert film 'EPiC/Epic Elvis Presley in Concert,' which brings the one-of-a-kind entertainer known as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, back to life with innovative music and staging, began its digital premiere streaming (purchase & rental) on July 8.
The Journey of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley
On July 31, 1969, Elvis's miraculous comeback Las Vegas residency, a social phenomenon, began. Over approximately seven and a half years, every show was sold out, drawing a total audience of over 1 million people. The main footage used in this work was luxuriously recorded in 1970 during these performances using large MGM cameras in 35mm anamorphic (CinemaScope) format. It also mixes footage from the 1972 Summer Tour and six different Las Vegas stage performances. Furthermore, the film features many of Elvis's hit songs performed during concerts and rehearsals. Iconic songs he covered, such as those by The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Ray Charles, Dusty Springfield, Bob Dylan, Three Dog Night, Brenda Lee, Edwin Hawkins, and The Righteous Brothers, adorn the film.
Directed by Master Craftsman Baz Luhrmann, Director of 'Elvis'
Baz Luhrmann is renowned as a pioneer of pop culture, seamlessly crossing boundaries between film, opera, theater, and music. His works include 'Moulin Rouge,' 'Romeo + Juliet,' and the film 'Elvis' starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. 'Elvis' was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won four BAFTA Awards, garnering significant attention in both film and music. 'Elvis' became a landmark film in Luhrmann's career, marking his most nominated work. Now, using the latest technology, he has brought the one-of-a-kind entertainer known as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, back to life.
The Solid Skills and Unwavering Dedication of the Brilliant Production Team
Luhrmann's production team unearthed unreleased reels from the 1970s Las Vegas performances and numerous 16-track audio recordings. They spent over two years locating the negatives and successfully scanned everything in ultra-high 4K resolution. The restoration of these visual materials, including precious 8mm archival footage from the 1950s, was handled by the master Peter Jackson ('The Lord of the Rings' series) and his top-tier digital restoration team. Additionally, much of the music had synchronization issues with the video, requiring the astonishing task of using lip-reading to match the audio to specific frames.
One of the highlights of this work is the latest remix of the hit song 'Always On My Mind,' produced by the currently hottest music producer, Omer Fedi. Fedi is a genius hitmaker who has worked on mega-hits like BLACKPINK's Rosé & Bruno Mars' 'APT.', as well as Lil Nas X, Royal Otis, and Sam Smith. This work, created through the solid skills and unwavering dedication of the production team, is a leap in musical imagination and the greatest tribute to the greatest entertainer in human history, Elvis Presley.
