The Natural Capital Credit Consortium (NCCC) announced that Sompo Japan Insurance Inc., a full member, has purchased carbon credits generated by Tsujita Construction and certified by the NCCC.
This marks the first instance where NCCC-certified credits have been traded. The credits were generated through the 'Akaiwa Grassland Project' carried out by Tsujita Construction.
The 'Akaiwa Grassland Project' employs the patented 'Unity Green Method,' designed to prevent soil erosion, strengthen ground stability, and contribute to biodiversity recovery. The project's use of AI and satellite imagery for Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) measurement has been highly recognized, earning it the Sustainable Finance Award.
This transaction realizes the full cycle of 'Generation (private operator) -> Assessment/Certification (NCCC) -> Purchase (corporate).' The NCCC aims to use this case to further promote the credibility of natural capital credits and improve market liquidity.
