Kokubu Group Corp. and Nessu Inc., joined by representatives from Ajinomoto Co., Inc., Kagome Co., Ltd., and Umios Inc., established the 'Consortium for Utilization of Unutilized Food' on May 7, 2026.
The consortium facilitates collaboration among wholesalers and food manufacturers to deliver 'unutilized food'—products within their shelf-life but ineligible for shipment due to trade norms—to children's cafeterias and needy households on a sustainable, as-needed basis.
Rather than one-off donations, the consortium builds a mechanism for sustainable participation through 'social pricing,' utilizing existing trade and logistics channels.
At a press conference on June 10, 2026, the members announced the initiative's purpose and strategy. Moving forward, food manufacturers will list products on the 'Unutilized Food Information Platform (Rosu-Pura).' These goods will be delivered from Kokubu Group's logistics centers to beneficiaries via Nessu's e-commerce site.
