The Taiwan Stock Exchange announced today (9th) that Yageo Corporation (2327-TW), a leading passive components manufacturer, has once again been reported for settlement default by 13 brokerage firms, with a total amount reaching 41.31 million TWD. This marks the second major default incident within just 10 days, following a previous default reported on June 30, and is the company's second such event this year.
According to the exchange's announcement, the 13 brokerages reporting Yageo's default include Cathay Duner, Cathay Dunan, CTBC Securities, Yuanta Yongchun, Hua Nan Douliu, Yuanta Shalu, Yuanta Hsin-Yung, SinoPac Taichung, SinoPac Hsinchu Science Park, Fubon Toufen, Kaiyi Banciao, SinoPac Securities, and Pocket Securities.
Tracing back via the T+2 settlement rule, Yageo's stock price plummeted to the daily lower limit on July 7, likely preventing day traders from selling their positions, resulting in massive settlement failures. Yageo had previously experienced a major settlement default on June 30, when seven brokerages—including Pocket, Cathay Duner, and Cathay Dunan—reported a total default amount of 38.8 million TWD.
