Taipei's stock market saw support from memory and passive component stocks early in the day, briefly surpassing 46,000 points. However, it was unable to withstand the heavy fall of TSMC (2330-TW) by 2.03%, closing down 379.8 points at 45,354.61 points. Market turnover shrank to NT$9,443.41 billion. The three major investors collectively sold off NT$393.93 billion.

Foreign investors today again sold off TSMC, with 12,749 shares sold, amounting to NT$310.29 billion. The groups that foreign investors bought into were concentrated in memory stocks, including Nan Ya Plastics Corp. (2408-TW), Sheng Hung Steel (6202-TW), and Crystalwise Technology (3006-TW).

In the Taiwan Stock Exchange's main market, foreign investors sold off NT$471.32 billion on July 9, marking the sixth consecutive day of selling. Investment trusts bought NT$154.10 billion, while proprietary traders sold NT$76.71 billion. In the futures market, foreign investors' net trading volume was 468 long positions, with a net open interest of 80,730 positions.

In the Taiwan Stock Exchange's main market, the stocks with the most foreign buying were Inotera Memories, EVA Airways, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Acer, E.SUN Commercial Bank, Compal Electronics, Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Sheng Hung Steel, and Crystalwise Technology. The stocks with the most foreign selling were CPC Corporation, Taiwan Cement, Formosa Petrochemical, Formosa Plastics, China Airlines, United Microelectronics, Powerchip Semiconductor, Far Eastern New Century, Taiwan Enterprise Bank, and TSMC.

The stocks with the most buying by investment trusts were E.SUN Commercial Bank, Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Mega International Commercial Bank, Far Eastern New Century, Chinpo Electronics, Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Inventec, Pegatron, Nan Ya Plastics Corp., and United Microelectronics. The stocks with the most selling by investment trusts were Acer, Kinpo Electronics, EVA Airways, Wistron, Cathay Securities Investment Trust, Powerchip Semiconductor, Han Tang, Canon, Farglory Land Development, and Fubon Financial Holding.

The stocks with the most buying by proprietary traders were Inotera Memories, Group 42, Foxconn Electronics, Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Compal Electronics, Mega International Commercial Bank, King Yau Electronics, E.SUN Commercial Bank, and Acer. The stocks with the most selling by proprietary traders were China Steel, Far Eastern New Century, United Microelectronics, Largan Precision, EVA Airways, CPC Corporation, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Far EasTone Telecommunications, EVA Airways, and Innolux Corporation.

Senior securities analyst Chien Po-yi pointed out that the Taiwan Stock Exchange's main market has recently seen a shrinking trading volume. With the approach of Typhoon Bavi, buying interest has waned, and even those who buy are reluctant to hold positions. He predicts that the Taiwan Stock Exchange will maintain a volatile pattern in the near term but must pay attention to whether market volume will expand upwards.
