Oriental Wind Energy (7786-TW) has officially signed a long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) contract with Yuneng Wind Power for Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) at the Yunlin offshore wind farm, further expanding its O&M footprint in Taiwan’s offshore wind sector. The announcement triggered a sharp rally in Oriental Wind Energy’s stock during midday trading, surging over half a trading band.
The stock opened at NT$131 this morning, briefly turned negative and dipped to NT$128, before oscillating near the flat line. It sharply rallied near noon, reaching a high of NT$137—an increase exceeding half a trading band—with trading volume surpassing 400 lots.
According to Oriental Wind Energy, the Yuneng Yunlin offshore wind farm is jointly developed by Tianfeng New Energy, TotalEnergies Group, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and Japanese trading company Sojitz Corporation. The project commenced commercial operations in July 2025 with an installed capacity of 640MW. All 80 wind turbines have been successfully grid-connected and are operational. The wind farm is expected to generate approximately 2.4 billion kWh of green electricity annually, sufficient to meet the electricity demand of over 600,000 households and cover Yunlin County’s non-industrial power needs.
In addition to actively expanding into AI submarine communication cable projects, offshore natural gas markets in Northern Europe, South Africa, and Southeast Asia, Oriental Wind Energy expects to deliver and commission five large-scale engineering vessels between the end of this year and 2028. This will further increase the proportion of high-margin business segments in its portfolio.
