Minister of Economic Affairs Gong Ming-xin stated on the 9th, during a press briefing prior to the ministry's weekly meeting, that the ministry has conducted a comprehensive review of energy reserves to strengthen national energy supply resilience. Oil inventory days have consistently remained above the high benchmark of 150 days, and natural gas preparations have been planned to meet winter demand, ensuring stable domestic power supply and fuel needs even amid international energy market fluctuations.

In response to recent global oil price volatility and geopolitical impacts, Gong emphasized that the Ministry has established a robust contingency mechanism. Oil reserve days have long been maintained above 150 days—far exceeding safety standards—and related reserve policies continue to be implemented to ensure supply chain stability. He stated, 'Oil reserves are even greater now than before; historically we’ve had over 150 days, and now it’s even more,' underscoring that energy supply security remains a core mission of the Ministry.

In addition to energy inventory, Gong also addressed organizational relocation planning and typhoon and flood preparedness. He noted that multiple video conferences have been held with regional bureaus across Taiwan, local governments, and water resource agencies to fully implement disaster prevention SOPs, including the inventory and readiness of pumping stations and flood control equipment. Furthermore, regarding the flooding incidents in June, the Ministry has assigned energy and water-related units to conduct on-site assessments and actively collaborate with other ministries to rigorously optimize disaster prevention strategies.

Regarding the relocation plan for the new ministry building, Gong explained that with organizational integration, previously dispersed operations will be centrally managed to enhance coordination efficiency. He expressed hope that staff, working in a more comfortable and collaborative office environment, will further improve administrative effectiveness. He added, 'Many colleagues are eager to transfer to the Ministry of Economic Affairs,' reflecting high anticipation for the new environment. The Ministry is enhancing its overall national service capacity through organizational streamlining and resource integration.
