Google Cloud: 57% of Taiwanese Enterprises Have Deployed AI Agents, Leading in Asia-Pacific

Lin Shu-Ping, Technical General Manager of Google Cloud Taiwan, stated on the 9th that 57% of enterprises in Taiwan have already deployed AI agents, placing the region at the forefront in the Asia-Pacific. Corporate interest in AI has shifted from "experimental technology exploration" to "enterprise-wide operational implementation."

According to a recent IDC survey commissioned by Google Cloud, 57% of Taiwanese enterprises have deployed AI agents. Organizations are now focusing on measurable business outcomes, with as many as 67% of Taiwanese organizations expecting AI investments to deliver over three times the return on investment (ROI).

However, Lin pointed out that a significant gap exists between proof-of-concept (PoC) and achieving threefold ROI. Many enterprises fall into the trap of using fragmented, siloed tools. When systems cannot communicate seamlessly, IT personnel must spend considerable time patching integration gaps. This "hidden tax" and "integration tax" resulting from piecemeal AI adoption and tool stacking can slow down innovation.

Lin further noted that enterprises often experience anxiety during AI adoption. Business leaders may hesitate due to uncertainty about what AI agents can do, or pause deployment due to concerns about AI hallucinations and data leaks. While technology has limitations, he emphasized that risks can be mitigated through proper management and design. The key lies in enhancing corporate understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations.

To overcome these bottlenecks, Lin highlighted Google Cloud’s advantage as a hyperscaler by offering a vertically integrated AI technology stack.
