Taiwan's stock market was volatile today (20), with passive component stocks continuing to decline. Yageo (2327-TW) suffered its second consecutive limit-down, falling to NT$630—nearly halved from its peak of NT$1,220. Walsin Technology (2492-TW), Hoshen Tang (3026-TW), and several other stocks also hit trading halts simultaneously.

Other stocks that reached trading halts during the session include Lide (6175-TW), Sunlord Electronics (6173-TW), Kemet (2375-TW), Kinpo Electronics (8042-TW), Vitrohm (3624-TW), Jih Hau (6127-TW), Hwa Hong (5328-TW), Lilon (2427-TW), Dayi (2478-TW), Y.P. Electronics (6449-TW), and 3Sonic-KY (6862-TW).

Compared to their peak prices, Yageo has declined 48%, Walsin Technology pulled back 57%, Sunlord Electronics and Nippon Electric Works fell over 50%, Lilon and Kinpo Electronics dropped 47%, while Hoshen Tang and Kemet also fell around 40%.

In terms of positioning, Yageo was collectively sold short by the three major institutional investors by 5,731 shares last Friday, with foreign investors selling short 12,800 shares over three consecutive days. Regarding margin trading, Yageo's margin buying decreased by 1,808 shares last Friday, while short selling increased by 748 shares, causing the short-to-equity ratio to jump from 0.96% to 2.7%.
