The Legislative Yuan's Transportation Committee inspected the implementation status of transportation infrastructure in the Kaohsiung area today (20th). The inspection tour included the 'TRA Bento Experience Store,' the planning of Kaohsiung's 'MRT Green Line,' and the 'Environmental Integration Plan for the Connecting Walkway from Fengshan Station to Fengshan MRT Station.'
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) stated that the Kaohsiung MRT Green Line is planned to connect the Fengshan, Renwu, and Zuoying districts, and in the future, will link with the Orange and Yellow MRT lines. However, the project is currently in the preliminary planning stage and must await the submission of a feasibility study by the Kaohsiung City Government before the MOTC conducts a formal review in accordance with regulations.
Today's inspection was attended by members of the Transportation Committee, Deputy Minister Wu Sheng-yuan of the MOTC, Railway Bureau Director Yang Cheng-chun, TRA Company Chairman Cheng Kuang-yuan, and city officials from the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation.
The 'TRA Bento Experience Store' located at TRA Fengshan Station officially opened on June 30, 2026. Centered on the core concepts of 'railway, cuisine, culture, and experience,' the store integrates the more than 60-year heritage of TRA bento boxes with innovative interactive technology, creating Taiwan's first immersive experience space themed around TRA bento. In addition to offering travelers a new choice for rest and sightseeing, it will also serve as a key venue for promoting railway culture, adding a new tourism highlight to southern Taiwan.
Furthermore, the Kaohsiung MRT Green Line is one of the initial network routes for the metropolitan area, connecting Fengshan, Renwu, and Zuoying. It will link with the Orange and Yellow Lines, strengthening public transportation services between the Fengshan living circle and northern Kaohsiung, enhancing the completeness of the rail network and transfer convenience, and driving overall development along the route.
The MOTC stated that it will continue to closely cooperate with the Kaohsiung City Government. Once the city submits the feasibility study, the MOTC will conduct a review based on the Mass Rapid Transit Guidelines to assist in planning a comprehensive urban rail transportation service.
The MOTC emphasized that Kaohsiung's transformation in recent years has been remarkable. Whether it is the innovative reshaping of railway culture or the extensive expansion of rail infrastructure, the ministry will continue to serve as the strongest support for local development, actively collaborating with Kaohsiung to jointly build a modern, smart transportation city that combines tourism appeal with forward-looking convenience.
