Taiwan's stock market surged 1,783.17 points on February 21, fueled by TSMC (2330-TW) rallying in the final session, MediaTek (2454-TW) hitting the daily trading limit, and multiple heavyweight stocks posting strong gains. The index broke through both the 43,000 and 44,000 thresholds, closing at a record high of 44,232.87 points, reclaiming the 5-day and quarterly moving averages. However, trading volume declined to NT$835.6 billion.

Among major stocks, TSMC was lifted by 7,974 buy orders in the final minutes, closing up NT$90 (3.88%) at NT$2,410. MediaTek and Taipower (2383-TW) both hit the daily trading limit. Delta Electronics (2308-TW) rose 7%, ASE Holding (3711-TW) gained 6%, and Hon Hai (2317-TW) rose over half the daily limit.

ABF substrate leaders performed strongly: Unimicron (3037-TW) and Kinsus (3189-TW) hit the daily limit, while Nanya PCB (8046-TW) rose 7.7%. Chipbond Technology (3653-TW) also reached the daily limit. Yageo (2327-TW), a key passive component player, rebounded 6% after previous losses, and Holtek Semiconductor (3026-TW) closed near the limit, though Walsin Technology (2392-TW) remained weak and closed lower.

Among high-priced stocks, Win Semiconductors (7734-TW), Taiming (6274-TW), Yageo Testing (6515-TW), Molex-KY (3665-TW), Creative Electronics (3443-TW), and Chroma (2360-TW) all hit the daily limit. Avalue Electronics (3017-TW) and Hongjing (7769-TW) rose 8%, while Chicony (8210-TW) and others gained over 7%.

The Formosa Plastics Group's four core stocks rose in tandem, led by Formosa Chemicals & Fibre (6505-TW) hitting the daily limit. Formosa Chemicals (1326-TW) rose nearly 7%, Nan Ya Plastics (1303-TW) nearly half the limit, and Formosa Plastics (1301-TW) nearly 4%.

However, Lien Yih Metal Industrial - Chuan (7610-TW) closed at the daily limit down, Taiwan Semiconductor (3532-TW) plunged nearly 7%, and Far EasTone (4904-TW) and Kang Pei (6919-TW) also closed lower, underperforming in today's broad market rally.
