Taipei City is known for having the highest rental prices in Taiwan, leading many renters to consider New Taipei City as an alternative. A comparison of rental prices around MRT stations showed a significant price difference of 979 yuan per ping between Taipei Main Station and Sanchong Station. This is due to the high demand for rentals in Taipei Main Station, which is a bustling commercial hub and a major transportation center.

However, there are cases where rental prices in New Taipei City are higher than those in Taipei City. For example, Jiangzicui Station in New Taipei City has higher rental prices than Longshan Temple Station in Taipei City, and Dapinglin Station in New Taipei City has higher rental prices than Jingmei Station in Taipei City. This is because Jiangzicui Station and Dapinglin Station are located in developed residential areas in New Taipei City with many new housing developments.

Chen Jinping, deputy manager of the Yongfeng Real Estate Research Center, explained that Taipei Main Station is a core area in Taipei City with a high concentration of commercial activities and transportation hubs, leading to stable rental demand and higher prices. In contrast, Sanchong Station, despite its convenient transportation, is still in the development stage with less developed commercial functions and employment clusters compared to the city center, resulting in more affordable rental prices.

As for Guting Station, it is a core residential area in Taipei City with a high demand for rentals from students. In contrast, Dingxi Station, although it has well-developed living functions and commercial activities, has a rental price that is nearly 50% lower than Guting Station.

Chen Jinping advised renters to expand their search beyond Taipei City and consider New Taipei City as well. She also recommended comparing rental prices on rental websites and consulting with local real estate agents to get a more comprehensive understanding of the market.
