Sundoc (4123-TW) has invested RMB 550 million in GenEditBio (GenEditBio), becoming the company's second-largest institutional shareholder. To maximize the synergies from this investment, Sundoc plans to expand collaboration between its new drug development subsidiary, Shunyao (6535-TW), and GenEditBio to jointly explore and develop innovative therapies targeting central nervous system (CNS) diseases.
Sundoc stated that it intends for Shunyao, its subsidiary dedicated to new drug development, to deepen its partnership with GenEditBio. The collaboration will combine GenEditBio’s gene editing platform with Shunyao’s research, development, and clinical expertise in CNS disorders to co-develop next-generation treatments.
Sundoc highlighted that GenEditBio has independently developed a highly efficient delivery technology platform based on Protein Delivery Vehicles (PDV) and Lipid Nanoparticles (LNP), which enhances drug efficacy. Additionally, the company leverages next-generation gene editing tools based on the CRISPR/Cas system to improve the precision of in vivo cellular genetic engineering.
Furthermore, GenEditBio’s most advanced key product, 'GEB-101', utilizes its gene editing technology to target TGFBI-related corneal dystrophy, a rare ocular disease. The product has already received Investigational New Drug (IND) approval from both the U.S. FDA and China’s NMPA. A multi-center Phase I clinical trial is expected to launch in both the U.S. and China in the second half of this year.
