Responding to the rapid industrial development and growing financial service demands in Kumamoto, Japan, Tokyo Star Bank (Tokyo Star Bank), a subsidiary of China Trust Bank, has relocated its Kumamoto Branch from its original location near Kumamoto Station to a more visible site in the heart of Kumamoto City’s Suidō-chō district. The new branch officially opened today (21st), offering nearly double the previous floor space. With proximity to Kumamoto’s main commercial districts and transportation hubs, the upgraded facility aims to deliver enhanced operational capabilities and service quality to meet the diverse financial needs of corporate and individual clients.

Since 2014, Tokyo Star Bank has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Trust Financial Holding Co. (2891-TW). Leveraging China Trust’s global network of overseas branches, the bank strengthens financial collaboration between Japan and international markets, supporting clients in cross-border investment, trade, and asset allocation opportunities.

To celebrate the branch’s relocation, Tokyo Star Bank hosted a special opening ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including Chairman Hsiao Chung-Mo and President Takeshi Ito of Tokyo Star Bank, Hsu Chun-Jen, Executive Head of Capital Markets at China Trust Bank, Lin Yung-Chien, General Manager of International Corporate Financial Division, Liu Chien-Hung, General Manager of International Retail Financial Division, as well as representatives from Kumamoto Prefecture and Kumamoto City, marking a significant milestone in the branch’s development.

Chairman Hsiao stated in his speech, “Kumamoto is a region rich in history and vibrant energy. We aim to deepen our local presence through this new branch, continuously providing higher-quality financial services and becoming a bank deeply trusted by our customers.”

In recent years, major semiconductor investment projects and the influx of related supply chain companies have driven job creation, population growth, and thriving commercial activities in Kumamoto, positioning it as one of Japan’s most prominent economic growth zones. The regional economy is demonstrating strong momentum, with rising financial demand—not only for corporate financing and working capital but also for payroll management, housing loans, wealth management, and cross-border financial services.

Tokyo Star Bank established a Kumamoto office in 2023 and upgraded it to a full branch in 2025, deepening its engagement in the Kyushu market and expanding services for semiconductor-related enterprises and their employees. This relocation reflects strong confidence in Kumamoto’s future prospects and underscores China Trust’s ongoing commitment to supporting local economic development and helping clients expand internationally.

Anticipating continued regional growth and increasing international corporate investment, Tokyo Star Bank will further strengthen both physical branches and digital financial services, offering competitive financial products and solutions. By leveraging the group’s cross-border platform advantages, the bank will assist corporate and individual clients in capturing new business opportunities arising from industrial development in Kumamoto and the broader Kyushu region. It will also deepen local partnerships with regional businesses and community stakeholders to promote sustainable development in Kumamoto and Kyushu.
