After last Friday's market crash, Taiwan's top 20 listed companies by market capitalization have undergone a dramatic reshuffling. Nan Ya (1303-TW) emerged as a dark horse, directly entering the top 10 with a market cap of TWD 1.47 trillion. The rankings show a shift between electronics and financial stocks—while the traditional 'Big Three' financials (Fubon Financial, Cathay Financial, and CTBC Financial) remained, a new entrant, Taishin-SK Life Insurance (2887-TW), joined the list, securing 20th place with a market cap of TWD 874.054 billion, despite not yet reaching the trillion mark.
Among the top 20, financial stocks demonstrated resilience during the market downturn. Fubon Financial (2881-TW) rose from 10th to 7th place, Cathay Financial (2882-TW) climbed from 12th to 11th, and CTBC Financial (2891-TW) held steady at 14th.
Taishin-SK Life Insurance made its debut, pushing the number of financial holding companies in the top 20 to four—the 'Big Four' of finance.
Meanwhile, the previously underperforming 'Four Gems of Formosa Plastics Group' have rebounded due to rising oil prices and strong demand for electronic materials. Nan Ya benefited from AI server-driven demand for ABF substrates, BT substrates, and upstream electronic materials, which are in short supply. With a market cap of TWD 1.47 trillion, it surged into 10th place. Its subsidiary, Nanya Technology (2408-TW), also rose to 15th with a market cap of TWD 1.18 trillion.
Previously popular electronics stocks faced significant selling pressure and dropped in rank. Quanta Computer (2382-TW) saw its market cap fall to TWD 1.22 trillion, dropping to 13th place. Accton Technology (2345-TW) fell to 17th with TWD 1.17 trillion. Chunghwa Telecom (2412-TW) slipped to 19th.
Hon Hai Precision Industry (7769-TW) maintained its 18th position, with its market cap breaking the trillion mark, rising from TWD 803.387 billion to TWD 1.08 trillion.
Post-crash, several former high-flyers were eliminated from the top 20. ChipMOS (2360-TW) and Wistron NetLab (6669-TW) exited the list, as did Auras (3017-TW) and Jientech (3653-TW). Market capital has rapidly rotated out of previously overvalued, high-growth sectors.
