The 'TEEMA Science Park Investment Forum,' hosted by the Electronics Industry Association (EEI), took place today (21), with Mexico making its debut as the first overseas investment forum. The EEI stated that Mexico, with its strategic location providing access to the North American market, the institutional benefits of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), and rapid development in industries such as AI, electric vehicles, smart cities, and electronics manufacturing, has been selected as the priority site for TEEMA's overseas science parks.
Today’s investment forum was attended by Francisco, Acting Director of the Mexican Office for Commercial, Visa, and Cultural Affairs in Taiwan; Chang Sheng-hsin, Chairman of Citibank (Taiwan); and representatives from industry, government, academia, and research institutions. The EEI noted that over the past six months, the TEEMA team has conducted multiple on-site visits to Mexico, engaging in in-depth discussions with local state governments, park developers, financial institutions, and industry partners, gradually finalizing the park planning and investment preparation.
During the briefing, the EEI introduced the overall development plan and investment environment to member companies and officially launched the investment promotion campaign. The event featured specialized sessions on 'Mexico's Overall Economic Outlook,' 'Business Environment and Local Culture in Mexico,' 'Financial Environment and Financing Framework,' and 'Taxation and Incentive Policies for Investing in Mexico.' Experts from Citibank, PwC Taiwan, and industry specialists shared first-hand market insights to help companies fully understand the investment landscape and practical operations in Mexico, reduce risks associated with overseas expansion, and enhance investment efficiency.
Secretary General Lin Chuan-neng introduced the TEEMA Science Park planning and emphasized that the future park will advance under the 'Science Park 3.0' model, centered on the core principles of 'AI Empowerment, ESG Sustainability, and Smart Management.' The park will be intelligence-driven, integrating production and manufacturing, public infrastructure, living amenities, and smart facilities to deliver diversified value. It will focus on key areas such as AI data centers, electric vehicles, and smart cities, aiming to become a one-stop platform for Taiwanese enterprises expanding overseas.
The EEI stated that TEEMA aims to build industry consensus around the principles of 'sharing, collaboration, and mutual prosperity,' acting as an integrated platform to work alongside key industry partners such as the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, the Taiwan Circuit Board Association, and the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association to support global expansion.
