Networking equipment manufacturer D-Link (2332-TW) held a press conference today (22nd) to announce the establishment of D-Link Robotics Co., Ltd. CEO Chang Chia-Jui stated that although the company officially completed its registration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs in mid-June, it has already secured customer orders.
Unlike traditional hardware manufacturing models, D-Link Robotics will center its strategy on cloud platforms and SaaS-based services, integrating self-developed companion robots with strategic partners across various fields to aggressively target business opportunities in single-person economies and elderly care.
Chang pointed out that industrial manufacturing and logistics warehouses currently account for about 60% of the overall robotics application market. However, D-Link Robotics has chosen to focus on the remaining 40%—service-oriented robotics—including therapeutic companionship, security patrol, medical care, and humanoid robots.
D-Link’s advantage lies in leveraging its parent company’s global distribution channels for consumer-grade networking products and its extensive operational experience managing cloud platforms for millions of users and hundreds of thousands of SMEs, enabling it to deliver sustainable service experiences.
Regarding product development, the company’s first self-developed companion robot is scheduled to launch in Q2 2027. Initially targeting single-person households around the age of 30, the company aims for a future market scale starting from 100,000 units. Hardware design emphasizes cost control and high functional capacity, including customizable emotional expressions, digital content subscriptions, and optional physical accessories.
To ensure data security and privacy protection, the company has formed a strategic alliance with AIOI Intelligence, integrating AI-powered security technology to safeguard system operations.
Additionally, to address elderly care and solitary living protection needs, D-Link Robotics plans to introduce millimeter-wave radar technology in its second-generation products. This will monitor heart rate, breathing, and fall detection while preserving user privacy, while simultaneously leveraging large language models (LLMs) to enhance conversational learning and companionship functions.
In international collaboration, the company has reached agreements with the MD-SAP institution to enter five countries’ medical certification markets and partnered with Japan’s community development leader GigaPrize to expand robot applications into security and patrol services within Japanese apartment communities.
To ensure supply chain flexibility and technical capability, D-Link Robotics is utilizing its subsidiary Youjin’s factory transformation for production lines and adhering to a non-China supply chain policy. Strategic partners include Sanwei Intelligence, promoting humanoid robots and robot dogs in Taiwan; Singapore’s Carbon and Petra in security patrol; and Yunlin University of Science and Technology for talent development.
