July 23 Taiwan Stock Market Pre-Market News

1. On July 22, the Taiwan stock market closed at 44,825.78 points, up 592.91 points from the previous day, with a trading volume of NT$982.645 billion, marking the third consecutive day below the NT$1 trillion threshold. The three major institutional investors collectively bought NT$31.938 billion worth of shares. Foreign investors ended their 13-day consecutive net selling streak, turning to net buying of approximately NT$17.343 billion. Major purchases included 121,000 lots of 00403A (Active Unified Upgrade 50), 53,000 lots of 00981A (Active Unified Taiwan Stock Growth), 46,000 lots of 00631L (Yuanta Taiwan 50 Pro 2), and 24,000 lots of Wistron (3231-TW). Meanwhile, TSMC was net sold by foreign investors by 3,538 lots.

2. Wistron (3231-TW) has successfully mass-produced the first NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Superchip in the United States at its Texas facility. Chairman Lin Hsien-ming stated that the Texas plant is not engaged in traditional manufacturing but in highly integrated, advanced, and high-tech smart manufacturing. Mass production of the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Superchip has already begun, with future plans to produce the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip. In the coming years, this site is expected to become a key hub for AI infrastructure development in the United States.

3. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA (NVDA-US), stated on the 22nd that Taiwan today is highly cost-efficient, but by no means low-cost, and possesses extremely advanced and excellent technology, something Taiwanese people should be very proud of. Huang also noted that as AI becomes smarter, more people will use it, which in turn increases the demand for computers running AI models.

4. The New Taiwan dollar fluctuated on July 22, with continued pressure from capital outflows pushing it close to the psychological level of 32.50, before closing at 32.375, down 3 cents. The trading volume at Taipei Forex Brokers dropped to USD 2.139 billion.

5. The Taiwan stock market experienced intense volatility in June 2024. On the 22nd, the Securities Exchange revealed that all securities firms posted a post-tax net profit of NT$26.572 billion in June, down 18.43% month-on-month. However, the cumulative post-tax net profit from January to June reached NT$144.09 billion, a staggering year-on-year increase of NT$110.152 billion, or 324.57%, indicating exceptionally strong earnings momentum in the securities industry during the first half of 2024.
