Ocean Wind Energy (7786-TW) announced today (23) that its cable-laying engineering ship, Dongfang Haiwei, has completed the Taipower Offshore Wind Phase II cable installation project. Additionally, Ocean Wind Energy has signed a 6-year cooperation agreement with Norwegian marine engineering contractor DeepOcean and will set sail for Europe this Sunday (26th), expected to arrive in the fourth quarter, officially expanding into the European market.
Ocean Wind Energy explained that Dongfang Haiwei is one of the high-specification cable-laying engineering ships in Asia, with a length of 130 meters and a width of 25 meters. It can operate at a maximum water depth of 3,000 meters and is equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system and a 250-ton compensating crane. Combining modular design and diverse engineering capabilities, it can perform high-precision marine engineering in complex sea conditions, including the laying and maintenance of submarine cables, the construction of submarine pipelines, ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle) operations, and offshore energy infrastructure.
CEO Chen Bo-lin stated that Ocean Wind Energy began the cable-laying project for Taipower Offshore Wind Phase II in May this year and completed it in about two and a half months. He also pointed out that because Ocean Wind Energy has its own high-specification cable-laying engineering ships and management execution teams, it has become the first domestic Taiwanese company to complete the project.
Furthermore, Ocean Wind Energy has signed a 6-year cooperation agreement with Norwegian marine engineering contractor DeepOcean to expand into the European market. In the future, Dongfang Haiwei will participate in large-scale projects in the North Sea region, including offshore wind power, oil and gas development, and seabed infrastructure in countries such as Norway, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Chen Bo-lin further pointed out that due to the impact of geopolitical risks, the world is actively seeking energy independence. Therefore, in the future, they will also expand into high-growth markets such as South Africa and Southeast Asia, continuously building a global marine engineering service network.
