The Taiwan Stock Exchange and TPEx announced today (27) the addition of two stocks under special trading surveillance, effective tomorrow (28) with measures lasting until August 10. The stocks are semiconductor equipment firm ChipZ (6217-TW) and semiconductor waste recycler Cheng Shin Recycling (6969-TW), both of which will adopt batch trading—either every 20 minutes or every 5 minutes.
ChipZ was placed under surveillance after its closing price dropped 33.6% over the past six trading days (including today). Cheng Shin Recycling was flagged due to a 39.71% cumulative closing price increase over the same period, coupled with trading volume on July 27 reaching 5.46 times the average daily volume over the past 60 trading days.
Following last Friday's (24th) price break to the downside, ChipZ faced heavy selling pressure again today. The stock opened sharply lower and immediately hit its daily limit-down price of NT$138, remaining there until close. Since its peak of NT$324 in mid-May, ChipZ's share price has fallen over 57%. The company recently reported a net loss of NT$40 million for June alone, double the loss from the same period last year.
