Amid rising local mobility demand driven by summer travel, hometown visits, and diverse transportation needs, Uber announced today (28) that its ride-hailing service with partner fleets has officially expanded to Hualien, Taitung, and Yunlin, achieving a significant milestone: the Uber app now enables ride-hailing across all counties and cities in Taiwan.
Data from the Uber app shows that domestic ride requests increased by 21% year-over-year from July to August last year, with growth momentum spreading beyond major metropolitan areas to more counties and cities. Notably, Yilan saw a 25.2% increase and Nantou a 21.1% increase. Meanwhile, six-seater Uber rides grew by 10% year-over-year, and Uber Taxi (優步小黃) rides increased by 21.6%.
Anticipating strong travel demand, Uber has partnered with local fleets to officially launch services in Hualien, Taitung, and Yunlin, realizing islandwide coverage across Taiwan and further deepening local partnerships and service reach.
On another front, to meet the needs of business travelers, international visitors, and premium users, 'Uber Premium' (featuring vehicles from brands such as Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi) is set to expand in Q3 from Taipei, New Taipei, and Taoyuan to Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung—covering eight major cities.
Uber app data indicates that popular pickup and drop-off locations for 'Uber Premium' are primarily five-star hotels in Taipei. Strong demand from international travelers has been observed during major global events such as COMPUTEX, highlighting that high-quality ride services have become a preferred mobility option for business activities, tourism accommodations, and important itineraries.
