According to Appleinsider, as overall demand for smartphones in the Chinese market declines, foreign brand shipments have significantly rebounded, indicating that iPhone sales momentum in the region is likely to continue.

The latest data from China's Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) shows that in June 2026, foreign brand smartphone shipments in the Chinese market reached 3.28 million units, a 66% increase from May. As Apple is the primary foreign smartphone brand in China, this data is often seen as a key indicator of iPhone sales performance.

In contrast, shipments of smartphones from Chinese domestic brands totaled 19.15 million units in June; the overall smartphone market declined 15.3% year-on-year. While monthly growth and annual decline cannot be directly compared, the fact that foreign brands are growing amid a shrinking market highlights improving iPhone demand in China.

China has long been one of Apple's most critical overseas markets. In recent years, iPhone sales in China faced pressure due to competition from local brands, consumer sentiment, and geopolitical factors. However, recent data suggests Apple's performance in the region is warming up.

Apple's financial report for the quarter ending March 2026 revealed iPhone sales in the Chinese market reached $20.5 billion, an increase of over $4 billion compared to the same period last year. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the iPhone 17 has been well received in China and is favored by consumers.

The market is also watching whether Apple Intelligence, if successfully launched in China, could further boost iPhone upgrade demand. Due to China's complex AI regulatory framework, the service has not yet officially launched in the country, but progress is expected to be announced soon.

Additional data shows Apple's overall sales in China increased 38% year-on-year, reflecting a clear rebound after years of decline. This recovery has contributed to Apple regaining its position as the world's most valuable company and advancing toward a $5 trillion market capitalization.
