Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 2330-TW) is building a wafer fabrication plant in Phoenix, Arizona, prompting a wave of suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and material providers to follow suit, gradually forming a semiconductor industry cluster. The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) announced today (30) its approval for Changhua Commercial Bank to apply to U.S. authorities for the establishment of a representative office in Phoenix.
According to the FSC, Changhua Commercial Bank plans to set up the representative office in Phoenix, Arizona, to meet the financing needs of Taiwanese businesses expanding their operations in the United States and to provide integrated cross-border financial services.
As of the end of June 2026, Changhua Commercial Bank has established overseas branches including a mainland China subsidiary, branches in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Manila, as well as an Osaka liaison office under its Tokyo branch. Additionally, it operates one representative office in Yangon, Myanmar.
The FSC noted that Taiwanese banks currently have 25 branches, 3 subsidiaries, and 4 representative offices in the United States. In Arizona, there is one representative office and one loan office.
The 11 domestic banks that have already established branches in the U.S. are: Bank of Taiwan, Land Bank of Taiwan, Cooperative Bank of Taiwan, First Commercial Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank, Changhua Commercial Bank, Mega International Commercial Bank, Taiwan Business Bank, Yuanta Commercial Bank, E.Sun Commercial Bank, and CTBC Bank.
