NVIDIA's founder and CEO, Huang Renxun, appeared on the 'Y Combinator' podcast on Monday (27th) to discuss his perspectives on AI, his philosophy, and personal worldview.

After discussing Waymo's autonomous vehicles, the host said: 'I'd like to take a moment here. We have an audience present—perhaps those in the audience can welcome Huang Renxun to the X platform, as he may have just posted his first message.'

Huang officially joined the X platform last Friday (24th), posting an open letter signed by NVIDIA as his first message. The letter primarily addressed the importance of open-source models: 'The world needs advanced closed-source models, but it also needs advanced open-source models.'

In response, Huang remarked: 'You know, this perfectly illustrates how introverted I am. I posted my first message on X in 2026—possibly the last person on Earth to do so—but the message I had to share was so important for the entire industry and the world that I overcame my shyness and finally posted my first content on X.'

He continued: 'Without open source, the mobile internet and cloud computing industries simply wouldn't exist. Without open ecosystems, Linux, Kubernetes, TensorFlow, or PyTorch, I can't even imagine what the world would be like today. All of these technologies are open source. How could we possibly embrace AI today without them?'

On Monday, Huang also pointed out that memory chips have become the biggest bottleneck in AI development. As AI tasks evolve toward complex agents and contextual processing, the importance of HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) for data storage and rapid retrieval is increasingly critical.

Previously, NVIDIA established its AI computing advantage through GPUs, but it has now shifted toward building systems that integrate memory chips. This requires stable, large-scale supply from suppliers like Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung. However, the limited production capacity of specialized memory chips means supply constraints could impact NVIDIA's product delivery speed.

Market analysts suggest this is a natural phase in AI evolution, and NVIDIA still holds long-term leadership potential.
