On January 1, around 11:00 a.m., an explosion and fire broke out at a factory located on Industrial 3rd Road in Hukou Township, Hsinchu County, Taiwan. Flames and dense smoke were seen rising from the site, with the plume visible from several kilometers away. Initial reports circulating in the market incorrectly claimed that the fire had occurred at the facility of King Yuan (3264-TW), a major IC testing company.
In response, King Yuan issued a prompt clarification stating that the incident did not involve its own plant. The company confirmed that its facilities remain unaffected and operations are continuing normally. The fire actually occurred at the premises of Huli Precision Chemicals, a neighboring facility located adjacent to King Yuan's site.
Due to the close proximity between Huli Precision Chemicals and King Yuan, the explosion was heard multiple times and could be seen from a distance. Because King Yuan's buildings are taller and more prominent, they were mistakenly believed by some observers to be the source of the fire.
King Yuan stated that while the fire did not originate from its facility, it has temporarily suspended inbound and outbound logistics operations as a precaution due to potential smoke exposure. The company is actively cooperating with fire authorities in response efforts.
The Hsinchu County Fire Bureau reported that firefighting units from the Third Battalion, along with teams from Singong, Shanyi, Hsinfeng, and Hukou, have been dispatched to the scene. Authorities are advising the public to avoid the area around Kuangfu North Road, comply with traffic control measures, and expect possible disruptions to local roadways. Residents in areas affected by smoke are urged to keep windows closed, minimize outdoor activities, and remain vigilant about personal safety.
