Taiwan stocks rose against the trend in the Asian market on the 3rd. After opening lower, buying pressure pushed the market into positive territory, peaking at 43,784. The index rose over 650 points before closing up 266.66 points at 43,386.41, holding above the 10-day moving average. Trading volume shrank to 84.45 billion, similar to last Friday.

Asian markets were weak today, with Japan's Nikkei down over 1% and South Korea's KOSPI correcting over 5% after last Friday's surge. The Shanghai and Shenzhen composites also fell, while Taiwan was the only market to close higher.

Over 1,200 stocks rose in Taiwan, with 200 gaining over 5%. About 600 stocks fell. Heavyweight stocks were mixed, with TSMC falling over 2% after a rare limit-up last Friday, breaking below its monthly support. Its market cap fell to NT$6.1 trillion. UMC and Delta Electronics also fell over 2%. However, MediaTek, Largan Precision, Epistar, and Chipsanko all hit their daily limit-ups, supporting the market.

The passive component sector continued its rally, with Yageo and Chipsanko both limit-up. Other stocks like Sunonwealth, Sinopower, Sinopower, Chipsanko, and King Yuan Electronics also rose sharply.

While Taiwan stocks closed up 266.66 points, technically, the index remains pressured by the monthly line. After rising nearly 700 points, the rally narrowed. The monthly line has crossed below the quarterly line, which is still rising, but the rebound momentum may weaken further.
