On March 3, the Taiwan stock market opened at 43,780.42 points, down 339.33 points, influenced by the previous Friday’s negative close in U.S. markets. However, as TSMC’s losses narrowed and companies like MediaTek (2454-TW) and ASE Holding (3711-TW) hit their daily trading limits, the weighted index turned positive, rising over 400 points. Trading volume temporarily expanded to 1.2 trillion NT dollars.

Looking at major weighted stocks today, TSMC (2330-TW) opened at 2,390 NT dollars, down 35 dollars or 1.44%. Its intraday decline briefly widened to 2%, testing support at the monthly moving average. Delta Electronics (2308-TW) and Hon Hai (2317-TW) also weakened.

However, MediaTek released a positive outlook during its earnings briefing, raising its forecast for ASIC market share next year, leading the stock to open with a gap-up and immediately hit its daily limit. ASE Holding similarly reached its daily price ceiling.

Among strong-performing sectors, memory stocks Winbond (2344-TW) and Nanya Technology (2408-TW) hit their daily limits, while Macronix (2337-TW) rose over 7%. ABF substrate leaders Unimicron (3037-TW) and Kinsus Interconnect (3189-TW) also surged to their limits, with Nan Ya PCB (8046-TW) gaining over half of the daily limit.

In the PCB sector, Gold Circuit Electronics (2368-TW) and CTCI Corporation (2313-TW) reached their daily limits. Passive components continued their rebound, with Yageo (2327-TW), Walsin Technology (2492-TW), and Hoshen Tang (3026-TW) all hitting their limits.

High-priced stocks extended last Friday’s momentum, with Chuan-Hu (2059-TW), Grand Chip Design (3443-TW), Jiazer (3533-TW), Kenmax (3653-TW), and Syntech (7750-TW) all hitting their limits. Wiwynn (6669-TW) nearly reached its limit, while Taipower Electronics (2383-TW) gained over 9%.

Meanwhile, as electronic stocks strengthened, financials weakened, with Mega Financial (2886-TW) and Hua Nan Financial (2880-TW) both falling over 3%.
