According to MarketWatch, Palantir Technologies (PLTR-US) continues to experience robust business momentum. Despite recent corporate scrutiny over AI spending, the data analytics company reported another record-breaking quarterly performance on Monday (3rd), with revenue significantly exceeding expectations and profits surpassing forecasts, driving its after-hours stock price up more than 14%.

Palantir's second-quarter revenue reached $1.94 billion, a 93% increase year-over-year, surpassing analysts' expectations of $1.81 billion. Earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.41, also exceeding the market's forecast of $0.34.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp stated that rising demand is being fueled by the growing trend of 'sovereign AI' and the company's ongoing collaboration with Nvidia (NVDA-US). An increasing number of enterprises want full control over their AI models and data.

Karp noted that many companies are currently adopting AI by migrating their 'unique operational models and core competencies' into large AI models—a practice that raises concerns for many enterprises.

In contrast, Palantir offers solutions that allow customers to deploy, customize, and run AI models on their own infrastructure while fully retaining ownership of their data.

Following the earnings release, Palantir's stock surged in after-hours trading on Monday. However, the stock is still down approximately 25% year-to-date, largely due to broader software sector sell-offs and valuation corrections. The stock had previously surged over 130% in 2025.

U.S. Commercial Business Emerges as Key Growth Engine

Palantir's strong second-quarter growth was primarily driven by the U.S. market, especially its commercial customer segment.

The company secured contracts totaling $3.37 billion in the quarter, a 49% increase year-over-year. Of this, $2.13 billion came from U.S. commercial customers.

Revenue from the U.S. market grew 115% year-over-year to $1.57 billion. U.S. commercial business revenue surged 149% to $764 million.

Palantir CFO David Glazer stated that the U.S. market now accounts for 81% of the company's total revenue, up from 73% a year earlier.

Adjusted free cash flow for the second quarter reached $1.22 billion, marking the first time Palantir has exceeded $1 billion in a single quarter.

Q3 and Full-Year Guidance Exceed Market Expectations

For the third quarter, Palantir forecasts revenue between $2.160 billion and $2.164 billion, significantly above Wall Street's previous estimate of $2.002 billion.

Due to continued strength in the U.S. commercial business, the company has raised its full-year 2026 revenue outlook by nearly $500 million. The current full-year forecast ranges from $8.150 billion to $8.158 billion.

Amid ongoing debates in the AI industry, Palantir has publicly stated its position. The company criticizes the market's obsession with 'tokenmaxxing'—the excessive pursuit of token usage—and supports the adoption of open-weight models.

Karp emphasized, 'Our engineers deployed at customer sites are not selling tokens.'

In his letter to shareholders, Karp wrote, 'Our current performance reflects only a portion of the economic value our software creates for customers. We do not charge based on clicks, token usage, or chat counts. We believe gamifying the most important technological advancement in modern economic history misses the point.'
