With the arrival of the August ETF dividend season, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual distribution products are successively announcing payouts, triggering a wave of dividend-seeking activity across high-dividend, semiconductor, and technology-focused ETFs. Some products are projecting annualized dividend yields exceeding 10%, with the monthly-paying 00961 and semi-annually paying 00891 both reaching 17%, making them attractive safe havens amid market turbulence.

Competition among monthly dividend ETFs remains intense, with FT Taiwan Sustainable High Dividend (00961-TW) leading in August, announcing a projected dividend of NT$0.19 per unit and an annualized yield as high as 17.6%. The fund has maintained a total return of 3.78% since the second half of the year, demonstrating its strength in delivering both dividends and performance.

Tai Xin AI Premium Income Momentum (00962-TW) and CTBC Growth High Dividend (00934-TW) distributed NT$0.16 and NT$0.30 respectively, both achieving annualized yields above 13%. Active ETFs have also entered the high-yield arena, with Active JPMorgan Taiwan High Income (00401A-TW) and Active Cathay Momentum High Dividend (00400A-TW) surpassing 10% annualized yields. However, their total returns since the second half have been negative due to market corrections.

For quarterly dividend ETFs, semiconductor and high-dividend themes remain focal points. CTBC Key Semiconductor (00891-TW) distributed NT$1.55, pushing its annualized yield to 18.4%, while CTBC Small Investor High-Price 30 (00894-TW) paid NT$2.05, achieving an annualized yield of 18.1%, both ranking among the highest dividend yield leaders. The popular ETF Cathay Sustainable High Dividend (00878-TW) paid NT$1.01 per unit, with an annualized yield of 12.4%, continuing to attract long-term investors due to its stable dividend history and large investor base. Active Qunyi Taiwan Strong棒 (00982A-TW) and Active Nomura Taiwan Preferred (00980A-TW) achieved annualized yields of 12.2% and 11.5% respectively, reflecting active strategies aggressively entering the income market.

Semi-annual dividend products are led by technology and ESG themes. Cathay Taiwan Tech Leader (00881-TW) distributed NT$4.60, achieving an annualized yield of 18.1%, the highest among semi-annual products. Qunyi Taiwan ESG Low-Carbon 50 (00923-TW) paid NT$3.05, with an annualized yield reaching 15.1%. Industry experts emphasize that ETF dividend sources include component stock dividends, capital gains, and smoothing funds, meaning high yield does not equate to high total return. Investors should carefully assess refill capability and net asset value volatility when chasing high annualized yields.
