Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Fold, is reportedly overcoming mass production challenges, allowing the product to proceed without major design modifications and remain on its original schedule, potentially launching in September 2026 alongside the next generation of iPhones. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by Apple.

The leaker 'Fixed Focus Digital' revealed on Weibo that the iPhone Fold indeed faced manufacturing difficulties during initial trial production. Apple initially produced only small batches of test units, and problems arose when transitioning from low-volume prototyping to large-scale mass production, temporarily making it difficult to ramp up output.

However, the related technical and manufacturing obstacles are now said to have been resolved, without forcing Apple to redesign the product. The final version for launch is expected to largely retain the design finalized in early 2026, avoiding the major adjustments previously rumored.

Earlier speculation had pointed to the folding hinge as a source of production issues.

Some reports suggested Apple's (AAPL-US) innovative hinge design might have caused delays in mass production, even forcing the company to reconsider the overall design. But the latest leak denies any product delay and emphasizes that hinge and other manufacturing challenges have now been solved.

Supply chain developments also support the claim of an on-time launch. Recent reports indicate that multiple component suppliers continue producing parts for the iPhone Fold and have not received notifications from Apple about a significant postponement.

However, 'Fixed Focus Digital' has not always been fully accurate in past leaks.

The account correctly predicted the name 'iPhone 16e' early on but incorrectly forecast that the iPhone 17 would feature a 120Hz display without ProMotion support. Therefore, whether the iPhone Fold will truly launch in September remains subject to Apple's official announcement.
