China's three major A-share indices opened lower on August 5 (Wednesday), but rose steadily during morning trading, expanding gains by midday. In the afternoon, the market maintained a high-level consolidation pattern.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 1.47% at 3,878.43 points. The Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.86% to 14,144.2 points, while the ChiNext Index rose 1.32% to 3,535.14 points.

Total trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen markets reached RMB 2.6596 trillion, an increase of RMB 446 billion from the previous trading day.

CITIC Construction Investment noted that the global resonance in the technology sector continues. Market participants should monitor whether trading volume can sustain above RMB 2 trillion and whether there is a rotation within tech stocks from hardware to application segments.

Overall, the market may see a short-term pattern of 'index consolidation with strong tech outperformance,' with profit opportunities highly concentrated in the AI computing supply chain. However, investors should remain cautious of profit-taking pressure following consecutive strong gains.

Yang Chao, Chief Strategy Analyst at China Galaxy Securities, stated that in the short term, the market is likely to feature consolidation and structural rebalancing. As sector overcrowding eases, domestic policies continue to provide support, and long-term capital keeps flowing in, the downside risk for indices has significantly narrowed.

With the arrival of August, listed companies are releasing their semi-annual earnings reports en masse. Investors should focus on sub-sectors with strong earnings visibility and higher certainty of growth.

The mid-to-long-term trend in technology-driven growth industries remains intact. The market is expected to shift from broad-based rallies to structurally driven opportunities based on earnings performance. The market's main themes may evolve from a single dominant narrative in the first half to multiple concurrent themes in the second half.
