Taiwan's stock market closed at 44,225.91 points today (7th), down 170.79 points or 0.38%, with a trading volume of NT$819.204 billion. In the first week of August, the market rose 1,106.16 points, closing the weekly candle in green with a gain of 2.57%. The three major institutional investors collectively sold a net NT$44.244 billion, with foreign investors accounting for NT$40.716 billion in net sales. Notably, they heavily sold Innolux (51,000 sheets) and Powerchip (43,000 sheets), both of which declined over 4% today.

Analyzing the movements of the three major institutional investors: foreign investors, investment trusts, and proprietary traders all took sell-side positions. Foreign investors flipped from buying to selling, recording a net sale of NT$40.716 billion; investment trusts also shifted from buying to selling, with a net sale of NT$2.56 billion; proprietary traders sold a net NT$968 million, marking their second consecutive day of net selling.

On the buy side, foreign investors heavily purchased EVA Airways (22,000 sheets), Uni-President Enterprises (20,000 sheets), and Wistron (17,000 sheets). They also bought ETFs such as 00988A (Active United Global Innovation) by 16,000 sheets, Taishin & Shin Kong Financial by 14,000 sheets, Far Eastern New Century by 14,000 sheets, AU Optronics by 13,000 sheets, China Steel by 12,000 sheets, Zhi Shang by 8,478 sheets, and 00990A (Active Yuanta AI New Economy) by 7,019 sheets.

Foreign investors' main sell-offs included Innolux (51,000 sheets), Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing (43,000 sheets), 00403A (Active United Upgrade 50) by 36,000 sheets, 00981A (Active United Taiwan Stock Growth) by 32,000 sheets, UMC by 23,000 sheets, Yuanta Taiwan Top 50 by 23,000 sheets, 00878 Cathay Sustainable High Dividend by 19,000 sheets, 00991A (Active Fubon Future 50) by 18,000 sheets, PS Semi by 17,000 sheets, and First Financial Holding by 13,000 sheets.

Investment trusts actively bought China Airlines (6,997 sheets), Hua Nan Financial (6,911 sheets), and 00953B (KGI Preferred Non-Investment Grade Bond) by 5,000 sheets. They also increased positions in Dah Chien Steel (4,865 sheets), Capital Financial (3,985 sheets), Mega Financial (2,849 sheets), Nan Ya Plastics (1,758 sheets), First Financial Holding (1,291 sheets), Powertech Technology (1,253 sheets), and Evergreen Marine (1,183 sheets).

On the sell side, investment trusts offloaded 00988A (Active United Global Innovation) by 15,000 sheets, Wistron by 10,000 sheets, and UMC by 6,691 sheets. They also sold Suwa Precision (1,540 sheets), Yageo Corporation (*1,520 sheets), Molex-KY (1,215 sheets), ASUS (1,179 sheets), 00981A (Active United Taiwan Stock Growth) by 1,000 sheets, Macronix (861 sheets), and Sunplus Semiconductor (801 sheets).
