Taiwan Stock Market Shortens Suspension Period and Implements 2-Minute Matching Starting August 10 – 10 Stocks Released Early

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) has announced that the revised 'Guidelines for Publicizing or Notifying Trading Attention Information and Handling Procedures' will officially be implemented next Monday (August 10). The new regulations introduce significant adjustments to suspension periods, matching intervals, and thresholds for attention-listed stocks. All currently suspended individual stocks will be subject to the new rules, resulting in nine stocks—including Hoshintang, Excelead, Taisun Tech, and Aptek*—ending their suspension periods early on August 7 and resuming normal trading starting August 10. Nanya Technology will also exit earlier than scheduled, on August 11 instead of August 18.

The revised handling system features three major updates:

1. Suspension periods are adjusted to either 5 or 7 consecutive trading days (previously 10 trading days).

2. The matching frequency during suspension measures is changed to approximately every 2 minutes (excluding cases where trading methods are altered or intraday batch auctions apply).

3. The '6-trading-day closing price range standard' under Clause 11 is revised to apply only to stocks with closing prices of TWD 1,000 or higher, with tiered thresholds and price difference standards adjusted accordingly.

As the new rules take effect on August 10, any stock that has already completed the 5-day suspension period under the new system by August 7 will have its restrictions lifted early on August 7. For stocks whose suspension periods extend beyond August 10, matching intervals will be shortened to 2 minutes.
