Artificial intelligence (AI) chip leader NVIDIA (NVDA-US) is reportedly set to inject up to $3 billion into power infrastructure developer Lancium, the company behind the 'Stargate' data center campus in Texas.

According to The Information, citing sources familiar with the matter, NVIDIA will initially invest $2 billion to acquire approximately 20% of Lancium.

Lancium is backed by private equity giant Blackstone Group. If certain milestones are met—such as timely grid interconnection—NVIDIA may add another $1 billion in follow-on funding.

Based on this deal, the enterprise value of Lancium’s portfolio of land and power connectivity assets is estimated at around $10 billion.

The funding will help Lancium accelerate its business expansion. The company is currently evaluating the possibility of an initial public offering (IPO) as early as 2027.

As of now, neither NVIDIA nor Lancium has responded to requests for comment.

Notably, Lancium is a key infrastructure partner in the 'Stargate' project. This initiative is jointly driven by SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle (ORCL-US), aiming to build a large-scale data center network to support AI development.

U.S. President Trump announced the project in January, stating that the involved companies would collectively invest up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure.

Lancium currently owns a 1,000-acre 'Lancium Clean Campus' in Abilene, Texas, which serves as the first officially operational site for the 'Stargate' project.
