8/10 Taiwan Stock Market Pre-Market News

1. U.S. major indices closed higher last Friday (7th), with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surging 2.56%. The Taiwan Futures Index rose 736 points, closing at 45,033, surpassing the 45,000-point threshold ahead of schedule. After gaining 1,106 points in the first week of August, Taiwan's stock market this week faces MSCI's quarterly index adjustment, the official implementation of revised stock suspension rules on Monday (10th), and the ongoing release of July revenue reports and semi-annual financial statements, all of which could drive further market rebound.

2. MSCI is scheduled to announce its quarterly adjustment of Taiwan stock weights in the early hours of the 13th. Investment firms have identified four stocks—Nanya Technology, Winbond Electronics, Phison Electronics, and Kinsus Interconnect Technology (ABF substrate manufacturer)—as potential additions to the index constituents. Taiwan's stock market declined 3,006 points in July, showing signs of weakness, with market capitalization dropping from $4.6 trillion to $4.3 trillion within a month, raising the possibility of a slight reduction in Taiwan's index weight.

3. The Taiwan Stock Exchange announced that the revised 'Guidelines for Announcing or Notifying Trading Attention Information and Suspension Procedures' will officially take effect on Monday (10th). The new rules significantly adjust suspension durations, matching intervals, and thresholds for attention-listed stocks. All currently suspended stocks will now be subject to the new regulations, with nine stocks—including Hoshintang, Massman, Taisi Technology, and APlus*—having their suspension periods ended early on August 7th, resuming normal trading from August 10th. Nanya Electronics will also exit suspension early on August 11th (originally scheduled for August 18th).

4. Server rail manufacturer Chuan-Hu (2059-TW) held an online investor briefing on the 7th, where Executive Vice President and Spokesperson Wang Chun-Chiang presented Q2 operational results. Responding to market astonishment over the company's Q2 gross margin soaring to 87.42% and operating margin reaching 82.08%, Wang emphasized that this exceptional performance stems from years of accumulated technological expertise and innovative breakthroughs.

5. Zhixing (8081-TW) held its investor conference on the 7th, with Chairman Wu Chin-Chuan stating that semiconductor supply chain shortages have returned to levels seen during the 2020–2021 pandemic period. Although the causes differ, for IC design companies, the current priority is no longer price hikes or gross margins, but rather 'whether they can secure more wafers'.

6. Server chassis manufacturer Quanta Storage (8210-TW) held its investor briefing on the 7th. CEO Chen Ya-Nan stated that in Q3, both POC (Proof of Concept) and NPI (New Product Introduction) engines are firing simultaneously for rack and component businesses, expecting steady upward momentum. She believes operations will 'crouch before jumping' in the second half, entering a peak season. Additionally, Quanta Storage's board approved a new factory investment in Vietnam, with production expected to begin in Q4 this year to Q1 next year.
