Siliconware Precision, a subsidiary of SEMI (3711-TW), held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new plant in Yunlin Industrial Park on November 11, investing NT$100 billion in CoWoS advanced packaging technology. This will create 2,200 jobs and start operations in 2025. Minister of Economic Affairs Kung Ming-Hsin emphasized confidence in Taiwan's investment environment.
With the global supply chain restructuring and rapid development of the AI industry, the demand for advanced semiconductor packaging is increasing. Siliconware Precision has chosen to enter the Yunlin Industrial Park, planning a base of about 6 hectares to build advanced packaging production lines, further enhancing Taiwan's semiconductor supply chain layout and injecting new growth momentum into central Taiwan's high-tech industry.
Kung Ming-Hsin stated that Taiwan's semiconductor packaging and testing technology has long been at the global forefront. Siliconware Precision is actively expanding production capacity in response to strong market demand. This investment in Yunlin is of significant importance to local economic and high-tech industry development. Kung Ming-Hsin pointed out that this major investment not only demonstrates the company's high confidence in Taiwan's overall investment environment and industrial supply chain resilience, but will also create high-paying job opportunities and cultivate local talent after the new plant is operational. He believes that as the semiconductor cluster takes shape, it will attract more upstream and downstream related industries to settle in Yunlin. The Ministry of Economic Affairs will continue to coordinate across departments to actively help enterprises solve investment issues and promote regional balanced development.
The Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs pointed out that the Yunlin Industrial Park has complete public facilities, stable water and electricity supply, and convenient transportation, making it very suitable for building an advanced packaging cluster. To ensure the smooth progress of the construction plan, the bureau has established a single-window service team to assist enterprises in land acquisition, water and electricity arrangements, and wastewater treatment administrative procedures. Through cross-agency coordination mechanisms, it will remove various investment barriers, demonstrating the government's determination to create a friendly investment environment.
The government will continue to promote the "Invest in Taiwan" policy, continuously optimize industrial land, infrastructure, and administrative efficiency, and fully assist enterprises in accelerating their investment layout. It will deepen Taiwan's competitive advantages in key areas such as semiconductors, high-tech, and smart manufacturing, and work together to build a global supply chain system with resilience and high added value.
