Frequent market fluctuations in Taiwan's stock market during July attracted heightened public interest in investment, creating opportunities for fraudsters to exploit. According to statistics from the Futures Exchange, the number of scam cases reported by futures brokers on social media platforms in July increased by 20% compared to the previous month, primarily through posts in Facebook investment groups. Most scams falsely claim to share personal investment profits or entry/exit timing, luring users to click on links that redirect them to fake investment platforms.
The futures industry's collaborative anti-scam efforts over five months have proven effective, successfully intercepting 482 suspected scam cases on social media platforms to date.
Since March 2026, the Futures Exchange has launched an anti-fraud governance evaluation initiative for futures firms. Over five months, the industry has conducted 26 notable anti-fraud activities, reaching over 3,900 individuals, and cumulatively reported 482 suspected social media scam cases, demonstrating strong proactive anti-fraud capabilities.
To strengthen financial consumer protection and support national anti-fraud initiatives, the Futures Exchange has partnered with futures firms to integrate anti-scam messaging into daily services and creative marketing by leveraging resources from campuses, rural communities, nonprofit organizations, and digital communities. For example, some firms have customized 'anti-scam Gua Gua cookies' for interactive engagement, while others have produced short videos exposing scam tactics on Facebook and Instagram, combined with prize giveaways that attracted nearly 100,000 views and over 3,000 comments, successfully amplifying outreach through social sharing.
Beyond digital campaigns, futures brokers have engaged in physical community outreach, designing anti-scam tic-tac-toe games at bazaars, and co-hosting investment forums with law enforcement to analyze tech-enabled fraud tactics. Some firms have conducted experiential games at neighborhood events and even partnered with food banks to deliver home services while promoting the '1 Listen, 2 Call, 3 Verify' principle to vulnerable households.
The Futures Exchange stated that the industry will continue to leverage its public influence, combining digital tools with local communities and police collaboration across sectors to build a more comprehensive financial security network from online to offline.
