Optical components manufacturer Lumentum (LITE-US) recently released its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026. The adjusted earnings per share reached $3.23, exceeding market expectations and significantly higher than the $0.88 recorded in the same period last year. As a result, today (12th), Taiwan-based optical communication stocks—Lightway (6442-TW), Huagang Light (4979-TW), Tontek Photonics (6588-TW), O-Net (3234-TW), Forward (4908-TW), and UniComm (3081-TW)—hit their daily trading limits on heavy buying orders.

According to Lumentum, last quarter’s revenue surged 109% year-on-year, surpassing market forecasts. This growth was primarily driven by increased demand for high-speed optical transceivers and ultra-high-power lasers. With AI computation speed and bandwidth requirements rapidly rising, the company’s Q4 FY2026 performance has been further strengthened.

Today, the optical communication sector continued its strong performance, with Huagang Light, Lightway, O-Net, Forward, Tontek Photonics, and UniComm leading the charge with limit-up gains.

Notably, UniComm, known as the 'king' of optical communication stocks, despite being under exchange-imposed trading restrictions (circuit breaker), still surged during the session to reach its limit-up price of NT$2,725, marking a new peak. The company is also scheduled to hold its earnings call this afternoon. Meanwhile, shares of Lujun (3450-TW), JDSU-KY (4977-TW), Poewav (3163-TW), and Sampo (3363-TW) rose 7–8%. Other stocks, including InP (Indium Phosphide) substrate-related firms Quanjian and IET-KY, also posted strong gains exceeding half the limit-up threshold.

Recent foreign media reports indicate that the United States is drafting related restrictions potentially affecting Chinese-made data center components. The FCC is reportedly formulating measures to ban the import of Chinese-made optical communication modules. Foreign brokerages state that under the combined drivers of explosive AI demand, tight supply of key materials, and rapid technological iteration, they remain bullish on leading Greater China optical communication manufacturers, maintaining 'buy' ratings on Sampo, UniComm, and Quanjian.
