STARLUX Airlines (2646-TW) announced today (13th) the launch of a new Taichung-Nagoya route commencing October 25, with tickets now on sale. This initiative underscores the airline's determination to actively develop Taichung as its second operational base, following the successful launch of the Taipei-Nagoya route in December 2023.
STARLUX stated that the Taichung-Nagoya route will be operated using the next-generation A321neo aircraft. Initially, the service will operate four flights per week, offering residents in and around Greater Taichung greater convenience for travel to Japan.
STARLUX CEO Chieh-Chien Hua explained that Nagoya is the largest city in central Japan, boasting rich historical culture and local cuisine within the city, while also providing easy access to popular tourist destinations such as Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Kamikochi, and Kanazawa.
Chieh emphasized STARLUX’s ongoing commitment to the Taichung market. With the addition of the Nagoya route, STARLUX now serves 12 international destinations from Taichung.
To meet the demand of the autumn travel season, STARLUX is expanding capacity on regional routes. From September to October, additional flights will be added to popular destinations including Okinawa, Busan, Sapporo, Tokyo, and Macau. Specifically, the Taichung-Busan route will increase to eight weekly flights between September 2 and October 24; the Taichung-Sapporo/Tokyo route will rise to seven weekly flights from October 1 to 24; and the Taichung-Macau route will expand to nine weekly flights during the same period.
