Nanya Technology (2408-TW) has announced today (14th) that it is reportedly planning to establish a new 12-inch wafer fabrication plant in Yunlin Industrial Park for the production of standard and customized DRAM. In response, the company stated, "In light of our long-term strategic development, we will continue to collaborate with relevant regulatory authorities and evaluate potential land for future manufacturing facilities."

Media reports indicate that Nanya is assessing both Yunlin Industrial Park and Pingtung Science Park as potential locations, with Yunlin being favored due to its superior infrastructure, water supply, and power planning compared to Pingtung. The company may prioritize Yunlin and is targeting advanced products using sub-10-nanometer (1D) fourth-generation process technology.

Meanwhile, amid rising incidents of semiconductor IP theft, Nanya has been linked to a case involving a senior engineer suspected of seeking high-paying opportunities in China. The engineer allegedly entered restricted company areas multiple times late at night or in the early morning before resignation, using a sports camera to secretly record and reproduce core semiconductor manufacturing trade secrets, drawing public attention.

Nanya emphasized that it places high importance on intellectual property protection. The company maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any unauthorized use, infringement, theft, leakage, misappropriation, or improper use of its intellectual property and trade secrets. It will pursue all necessary legal actions to hold responsible parties accountable and safeguard the rights of the company and related stakeholders.
