Major U.S. indices closed higher, with the S&P 500 reaching a new all-time high, while Japanese and Korean markets opened strong today (14th), boosting sentiment in Taiwan’s equity market. The Taiwan Weighted Index rose as high as 46,402.6 points during morning trading.

Active Taiwan equity ETFs broadly benefited from the rally. Among them, the Uni-President Taiwan Growth ETF (00981A-TW) stood out, with its share price surging nearly 2% intraday to reach NT$30.53, reaffirming its position as the leading active ETF in Taiwan and drawing significant market attention.

Looking deeper at performance, despite volatility in the Taiwan market this year, active ETFs have delivered strong results thanks to portfolio managers’ flexibility in adjusting holdings and sector allocations. According to CMoney data as of August 13, the top five performing active Taiwan ETFs have all gained over 60% year-to-date:

- Uni-President Taiwan Growth (00981A-TW): +77.11% - Fu-Hua Future 50 (00991A-TW): +73.73% - Capital Group Technology Innovation (00992A-TW): +70.47% - Nomura Taiwan 50 (00985A-TW): +69.13% - Nomura Taiwan Select (00980A-TW): +64.81%

Among these, 00981A not only leads in year-to-date returns but also ranks first over the past six months—outperforming the broader market index in both periods. This reflects its ability to capture growth themes amid Taiwan’s bull market and sector rotation cycles.

Looking ahead, the investment research team at Uni-President Asset Management notes that after prior valuation corrections and deleveraging, margin financing levels in Taiwan have gradually returned to more reasonable ranges, easing pressure on market positioning. Fundamentally, AI-driven demand and corporate capital expenditure trends remain supportive, with Q2 earnings showing sustained profit growth—indicating the overall bullish structure remains intact.

However, the Federal Reserve’s policy direction continues to be influenced by inflation and employment data, and fluctuating rate expectations may prolong market volatility. Additionally, valuations for some tech stocks remain elevated, suggesting short-term consolidation could persist.

From an investment perspective, Uni-President recommends focusing on fundamentals and reasonable valuations, particularly in sectors with tangible growth momentum such as AI servers, optical communications, advanced packaging, PCBs, thermal solutions, and ASICs. Investors are advised to consider regular fixed-amount investments in related ETFs to participate in long-term market growth opportunities.
