The Taiwan stock market (18th) opened higher and initially rose over 200 points, breaking above the 46,000-point mark again. However, pressured by profit-taking selling, the index swung approximately 839 points intraday before turning negative late in the session. It ultimately closed down 548.59 points at 45,308.68, breaking through both the 5-day and 10-day moving averages and now testing support at the 20-day moving average. Daily trading volume shrank to NT$958.4 billion.
Today, large-cap 'heavyweight' stocks broadly declined. TSMC (2330-TW, TSM-US) fell nearly 1%, dropping below the psychological threshold of NT$2,400 per share. MediaTek (2454-TW) and Delta Electronics (2308-TW) both dropped around 4%. Other major firms, including Hon Hai (2317-TW), ASE Holding (3711-TW), and Tripod Technology (2383-TW), also saw declines exceeding 2%.
Market focus today centered on the PCB and substrate sector. Benchmark stock Unimicron (3037-TW) rose逆势 over 2%, while Pacbond (6141-TW) hit its daily trading limit up. Others, such as Kingboard Chemical Holdings (2368-TW), posted gains between 5% and 7%. Related equipment suppliers, including Maxzone (3167-TW) and Youngcheng (3498-TW), also surged to their daily limits.
Optical communications stocks also drew attention. Gao Ming Iron (4573-TW) surged 9%, while IET-KY (4971-TW), Lintel (3450-TW), and Lian Ya (3081-TW) all gained around 5%. Other names, including Weihua Technology (3055-TW), United Integrated Services (6426-TW), and Sanechips (2455-TW), remained positive throughout the session.
