The Taiwan stock market initially rose more than 200 points today, breaking through the 46,000-point mark, but fell 548.59 points to close at 45,308.68 points due to profit-taking selling pressure, with a midday swing of about 839 points. Foreign investors ended a six-day buying streak, selling 119.85 billion yuan; proprietary traders sold 176.07 billion yuan; and investment trusts bought 56.62 billion yuan, with the three major institutions selling a total of 239.3 billion yuan. Today's trading volume shrank to 9,584 billion yuan.
