To encourage domestic travel on weekdays, expand inbound tourism, and stimulate the tourism market and economy, the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications will launch the 'Dual-Drive Tourism Initiative' starting September. With a total budget of NT$3.33 billion, the initiative includes nine measures under two pillars: 'Domestic Travel Incentives on Weekdays' and 'Strengthening International Tourism Momentum'.

Under the weekday accommodation subsidy, travelers staying two consecutive nights in general areas can receive a discount of NT$2,000, while those staying in outlying islands can receive NT$2,500. If lucky enough to win the 'Birthday Voucher' through a lottery, the total discount can reach up to NT$3,700.

According to the Tourism Administration, the subsidy applies to stays from Sunday to Thursday, excluding national holidays and their associated long weekends. The program runs from September 1 to November 30 this year. If the allocated budget is exhausted earlier, the Administration will announce an early termination.

The registration for both the 'Weekday Accommodation Subsidy' and the 'Birthday Voucher Subsidy' opened today at 11:00 AM, allowing residents to register personal information based on the last digit of their ID number. Registration can be completed via the dedicated activity section on the accommodation website, where participants can also check which businesses are involved.

Registration for the Birthday Voucher closes at 5:00 PM on September 8. The Tourism Administration will begin announcing lottery results at 11:00 AM on September 9. Each month, 1,000 birthday celebrants will be randomly selected to receive NT$1,200 in accommodation credits. Winners must check in on weekdays between September 10 and the end of this year.

Additional incentives for international visitors (October 10, 2023 – March 31, 2027):

For overseas corporations or legal entities hosting incentive tours in Taiwan, an additional subsidy of NT$1,000 per person per night will be provided if they stay at licensed accommodations in regions south of Taichung, Hualien-Taitung, or outlying islands—on top of existing subsidies. The maximum additional subsidy per trip is NT$4,000.

Enhanced incentives for returning international visitors:

1. Independent travelers who have previously visited Taiwan may receive NT$5,000 in prepaid spending credits. For those traveling with companions, the total can reach up to NT$8,000 (NT$5,000 for the returning visitor and NT$3,000 for the companion).

2. Group tours: For groups of four or more, if returning visitors make up 10% or more of the group, a subsidy of NT$10,000 to NT$30,000 per group will be provided based on group size.
