ABC-KY (6598-TW) announced its latest financial report today (20th), reporting a post-tax net profit of NT$49 million for the first half of the year, reversing losses from the same period last year, with earnings per share at NT$0.28. ABC-KY's performance was driven by continuous acquisition of new clients in human medical diagnostics and growing demand for digital bio-barcodes (BMB) in the animal health market.

In Q2, ABC-KY achieved revenue of NT$210 million, down 3.23% quarter-on-quarter but up 81.03% year-on-year. Gross margin reached 70.95%, an increase of 6.44 percentage points quarter-on-quarter and 24.4 percentage points year-on-year. Operating margin stood at 11.9%, up 3.61 percentage points from the previous quarter and turned positive compared to the same period last year. Post-tax net profit was NT$28 million, up 33.33% quarter-on-quarter and turned profitable year-on-year, with earnings per share at NT$0.27.

Cumulative revenue for the first half of the year reached NT$427 million, up 81.7% year-on-year. Gross margin was 67.68%, up 10.66 percentage points year-on-year. Operating margin improved to 10.07%, turning positive year-on-year. Net profit after tax amounted to NT$49 million, shifting from loss to profit year-on-year, with earnings per share at NT$0.48.

ABC-KY's U.S. human diagnostics business continued to secure new clients, achieving a 56% year-on-year revenue growth. In the animal health market, rising customer demand for digital bio-barcode (BMB) solutions drove a 122% year-on-year revenue increase. As shipment volumes expand, analysts expect these two markets to further boost ABC-KY's gross margin and profitability.

ABC-KY noted that recent stricter FDA regulations on Laboratory-Developed Tests (LDTs), along with gradually tightening insurance reimbursement policies, have prompted large-scale laboratories across the U.S. with high test volumes to actively seek alternative multi-test solutions that carry FDA market clearance and insurance reimbursement codes—creating a favorable environment for ABC-KY.

ABC-KY further stated that several large laboratories are currently evaluating the adoption of its testing products, including one mega-lab with an annual procurement demand reaching up to USD 10 million, which is currently in the product verification phase.
