Bitcoin continued its recent rebound on Friday (21st), briefly surpassing $75,000—the highest level since late May 2026.

The surge came after former U.S. President Donald Trump urged policymakers to establish clear regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrencies during a White House meeting with industry leaders. This, combined with the U.S. Treasury’s announcement to double its government bond repurchase program to curb soaring yields and restore investor confidence, boosted market risk appetite. As a result, Bitcoin rose 8.1% to $74,772.60, peaking at $75,591.60 during the session.

For the week, Bitcoin gained nearly 19%, marking its best single-week performance since February 2024, successfully breaking out of the $60,000–$70,000 consolidation range that had defined most of 2026.

The rally was primarily driven by Trump’s high-profile meeting with top executives from the crypto sector. He urged Congress to break legislative gridlock and swiftly pass the long-anticipated Clarity Act, which aims to create a comprehensive regulatory framework for the U.S. digital asset industry.

Attendees included SEC Chair Paul Atkins, CFTC Chair Mike Selig, CEOs from Coinbase and Robinhood, the Winklevoss twins, and over 20 other government officials and industry leaders.

However, the Clarity Act remains stalled in the Senate due to disagreements over cryptocurrency classification, treatment of stablecoin yields, and ethics clauses designed to prevent government officials from profiting personally.

Despite legislative delays, executive and regulatory agencies are accelerating action. Jonathan Gould, Acting Comptroller of the OCC, announced plans to finalize federal stablecoin rules under the GENIUS Act—passed in July 2025—by November, with applications for crypto-related banking licenses to be processed starting January next year.

Gould revealed that over half of the 40 new national bank charter applications received by the OCC in the past 18 months involved digital asset activities—eight times more than under the previous administration. Meanwhile, the SEC introduced a new proposal this week allowing startups to raise funds via tokens without traditional securities registration, offering a clear roadmap for how decentralized tokens can exit securities classification.

With sentiment significantly improving, spot Bitcoin ETFs listed in the U.S. saw approximately $1 billion in net inflows this week—the strongest since January. Related stocks followed suit: MicroStrategy (MSTR-US) rose 7.8%, Coinbase (COIN-US) gained 7.9%, while Circle and Bullish also posted gains.
