Heavy Oil Leak Ignites Fire at CPC’s Dalin Refinery – Blaze Extinguished, Emergency Measures Ensure Stable Fuel Supply

On the evening of the 23rd, at around 9:45 PM, a fire erupted at CPC Corporation’s Dalin Refinery Unit 11 due to a heavy oil leak from Pump P110. On-duty personnel immediately reported the incident and followed standard operating procedures to halt feedstock input and switch to circulation mode. The refinery promptly activated its emergency response mechanism, dispatching its internal fire brigade and support staff to the scene. The Kaohsiung City Fire Department entered the facility at 10:12 PM to assist with perimeter control and support operations.

Thanks to coordinated firefighting efforts, the fire was fully extinguished by 11:15 PM, with no injuries confirmed. After suppression, the plant’s fire team and on-site workers continued cooling and monitoring operations to prevent re-ignition.

In response to the incident, CPC’s Refining Division held an accident review meeting on the morning of the 24th, conducting on-site assessments of damaged areas and restoration feasibility, while simultaneously formulating emergency production scheduling plans. CPC stated it is maintaining close contact with the Kaohsiung City Government to ensure transparent and timely information sharing.

CPC emphasized its commitment to strengthening equipment inspections and preventive maintenance. It will implement corrective actions based on the final investigation report to minimize risks arising from equipment failures. Regarding market concerns over fuel supply, CPC confirmed that contingency arrangements are in place and domestic fuel supply remains stable and secure, urging the public not to worry.
